Terms of Service

Last updated: July 24, 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Canvas ("the App", "we", "us", "our"). By installing or using Canvas, you agree to these Terms.

1. Service Description

Canvas is a Shopify app that enables merchants to create freeform, drag-and-drop editorial image layouts on their storefronts. The App provides a visual editor, image hosting via Shopify Files, and a theme extension that renders layouts on the storefront.

2. Account & Access

Canvas is accessed through your Shopify admin. You must have an active Shopify store to use the App. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your Shopify account and for all activity that occurs under your account.

3. Acceptable Use

You agree to use Canvas only for lawful purposes. You may not:

4. Content & Data

You retain ownership of all content you upload to or create with Canvas. Canvas stores layout data (block positions, image URLs, canvas settings) as metafields on your Shopify store. This data belongs to you.

Images uploaded through Canvas are stored in your Shopify Files library and hosted on Shopify's CDN. We do not maintain separate copies of your images.

5. Privacy

Our handling of data is described in our Privacy Policy. Canvas does not collect, store, or transmit any customer personal information.

6. Billing & Plans

Canvas includes an eligible seven-day trial with no card required. The trial includes up to five local image generations and five local video generations through Canvas Desktop. After the trial, Canvas costs $19.99 every 30 days and includes the Shopify editor, publishing tools, desktop companion access, and local image and video generation. Canvas does not provide hosted AI inference.

Paid access is billed through Shopify and appears on your Shopify invoice. You may cancel future renewal through Shopify. If access ends, editing and new publishing may pause, but Canvas does not remove work already published to your storefront solely because the trial or subscription ended.

7. Availability & Updates

We strive to keep Canvas available and reliable, but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may update, modify, or discontinue features at any time. Material changes to functionality will be communicated through the App or via email.

8. Intellectual Property

Canvas, including its code, design, and documentation, is protected intellectual property. Your use of the App does not grant you ownership of the App itself.

9. Limitation of Liability

Canvas is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Canvas shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenue, whether incurred directly or indirectly, arising from your use of the App.

10. Termination

You may stop using Canvas at any time by uninstalling the App from your Shopify admin. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms.

Upon uninstallation, your layout data remains in your store's metafields unless manually deleted. The Canvas theme extension will stop rendering layouts once removed from your theme.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of Canvas after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
